NRHA Board of Trustees approves an FQHC membership category

NRHA Board of Trustee’s approved action creating a new category of organizational membership for Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC). This action is intended to encourage greater participation by a growing number of FQHCs in America’s rural health safety net.

To accommodate NRHA’s diverse membership, members are encouraged to affiliate with one of its current nine constituency groups (CG). NRHA's broad membership represents people from a variety of professions and interests, including doctors, nurses, administrators, clinicians, non-physician providers, academicians, researchers, mental health care providers, students associated with the respective health care organizations  involved and interested in rural health issues. The CGs are intended to be a focus point where respective issues and agendas are prioritized by NRHA. NRHA’s Board of Trustee’s earlier took action to re-name the Community Operated Practice CG to the FQHC CG for the purpose of more clearly describing this group intended to represent community health centers also commonly known as FQHCs.

Through its constituency groups, NRHA is structured to represent these individual concerns as well as the more encompassing interests of the entire membership. The chair of each CG serves on NRHA's Board of Trustees  and Rural Health Policy Board. In addition, constituency groups are allowed one representative on the Rural Health Policy Board for each 50 affiliated votes, with the chair representing the first 100 votes.
